Do you really think about the things you pray about? Like how will what you pray manifest into God’s plan? Let’s use me for an example. A few months ago I found myself in a place of complaining and God humbled me. He reminded me right in the middle of work of what I prayed for. I was frustrated and upset about the very thing I asked for in prayer. My prayer over my work life is always that I’m able to help someone and I’m able to resolve an issue through their interaction with me. But in my role there are metrics and numbers to meet to be deemed successful for a quarter. So the frustration of looking at the time it took me to resolve and the complexity of it took over. I found myself frustrated with a request and God reminded me you always ask that you’re able to help someone. I had to pause and repent while I worked because though I was still completing the tasks I was irritated while doing it.
My mindset about work shifted that day. Now, I treat each interaction as an assigned call that God destined to come on my line for resolution. Are the tasks always easy ? No! But with the challenge comes knowledge. So as I take on the more challenging issues the more I learn. Now my focus is not on the numbers or the handle time but that each call is a call from God, an interaction with someone that may need my help more than I know.
What are you praying for that you have neglected to realize God has granted? Are you thanking God for the job but complaining about it? Are you willing to sacrifice your idea of success for the tasks God needs YOU to complete in that role?
